Update: if your home is heated by oil or LPG, the Boiler Upgrade Scheme rises to £9,000 from 21 July 2026, a temporary uplift above the standard £7,500. See our guide for oil and LPG homes for the detail.
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) is a UK Government grant that pays £7,500 toward the cost of replacing a fossil-fuel heating system with an air source or ground source heat pump.
Homeowners do not claim the grant directly. MCS-certified installers such as Sharp Renewables apply on your behalf and deduct the grant from your final invoice. You sign a short declaration after the survey and we handle the rest of the Ofgem paperwork.
To qualify, your home needs a valid EPC with no outstanding loft or cavity wall insulation recommendations. The property can be owner-occupied or rented. Large commercial buildings and new-builds are out of scope.
